Pregnancy Class Information & FAQ’s

Thank you for your interest in our Pregnancy Yoga classes and congratulations on your pregnancy. We look forward to having you in class and teaching you the tools and techniques of yoga that you will find helpful throughout your pregnancy, baby’s birth and beyond.

Please find below answers to frequently asked questions and our guidelines around missed classes. If you need any further clarification or have a different question, please do not hesitate to ask.

What does the monthly fee cover?
The monthly fee covers your weekly or twice-weekly classes for a calendar month, regardless of whether there are 4 or 5 weeks in a month.

Can I start part way through the month?
If we have space in your preferred class you are welcome to join part way through the month – the monthly fee will be adjusted to reflect the late start and will revert to the usual fee from the beginning of the following month.

Do I have to attend the same class/classes every week?
Yes, your booking is for the same class/classes each week. Please do consider carefully which time will suit your schedule the best.

What if I have to miss one of my booked classes?
We understand that life happens and occasionally you may not be able to attend your usual class. Don't worry if you can't give too much notice - we will try our best to accomodate you at another, mutually convenient time so that you do not miss out on a paid class. However, please do note the following:

  • Missed classes are not able to be deducted from the next months fee and are not refundable.
  • Wherever possible, make-up classes should be attended in the current month.
  • You must be currently booked in to a monthly program to be able to use your make-up classes and they must be attended at a different time to your regular class
  • Booking in for a make-up class means that space in the class is no longer available for anyone else to attend as a make-up therefore we ask that you give us 24 hours notice that you can’t attend so the space can be given to someone else.

What about booking for the next month?

If you are currently booked in to a class you will have first option to book for the following month. Your teacher will ask you a week before the end of the month if you want to continue and your space will be reserved.
Payment for the following month is due by the 1st of the month.
We do understand this may not always be convenient - if there is any issue with paying on time, please speak with us so that we are aware of your situation and can accommodate you.

If payment isn’t received and we have had no communication regarding continuing with your classes, we reserve the right to let your space go to someone else.

When can I start pregnancy yoga?
We recommend that you start your classes any time from 14 weeks - the earlier the better!

How long can I continue classes?
We encourage our pregnancy students to attend classes for as long as they feel comfortable - for most women this can be right up to their due date.

What should I wear to class?
Wear comfortable clothing that allows for easy movement. Your body temperature is higher during pregnancy so it is a good idea to wear layers that you can remove or add as necessary.

I’ve never done any yoga before – is this OK?
No yoga experience is necessary to start your classes. In fact, it is more common for our pregnancy students to not have previous or very little experience :)
The exercises are kept very simple and accessible with adjustments being given wherever necessary

Can I eat before class?
It is better not to eat a large meal two hours before class, however it is important to eat regularly, especially while you are pregnant so a light snack around 30 minutes before class is fine.

What time should I arrive at class?
For your first class please arrive 10-15 minutes early so that your teacher can introduce herself, show you our facilities and discuss any queries you may have. After the first class, try to aim for at least 5 minutes before class – but never stress or rush if you are running late.

Where should I park?
Evenings and weekend there is generally no problem finding parking either on Kelly Street or Mt Eden Road. It can be a little trickier during the day - however, you should find parking in the shoppers parking across Mt Eden Rd from the studio- this is 60 minute free parking. There is a bus lane on Mt Eden Rd until 9.00am – if you arrive for class at 9.00am you should mange to park as soon as the bus lane ends – although you do need to be quick :)
