Yoga for Peaceful Minds
6 week course commencing 1st September, 2012

We all at times experience stress, worry & anxiety – these emotions are natural responses to life events. Sometimes however these feelings can become overwhelming and affect our ability to function with clarity and in a state of inner peace – a state which yoga insists is our birth right.
Excess stress can effect us in many ways ~ on a physical level, our sleep patterns, how we relate to others etc. Yoga provides tools that help us to release chronic patterns of stress and tension, often the pre-cursors to anxiety and depression, help us deal effectively with life’s challenges and live happier, healthier lives.
During this 6 week course, you will learn how a simple yoga practice incorporating postures, breath work and meditation/relaxation techniques can assist in releasing stress and tension, helping you to maintain a sense of balance in daily life. Each attendee will also be provided with an individually designed designed program for home practice.
Numbers in the course are limited so please book early to secure your place.

We all at times experience stress, grief, worry & anxiety – these emotions are natural responses to life events. Sometimes however these feelings linger and we may find ourselves sinking further into feelings of sadness, despair and low self esteem, which can have a profound effect on our ability to function with clarity and in a state of inner peace – a state which yoga insists is our birth right.
Yoga provides tools that help us to release chronic patterns of stress and tension, often the pre-cursors to anxiety and depression, and help us change our thought patterns so that we may deal effectively with life’s challenges and live happier, healthier lives. Yoga therapy is complimentary to other forms of treatment you may be undergoing.
When working with emotional imbalances we employ the use of asanas (postures) to release stress and revitalise on a physical level, pranayama (breath work) to balance the nervous system and meditation/visualisation techniques to calm the mind. We may also use sound in the form of mantra which has a profound effect on the mind.
If you feel that life is just a bit too much at the moment, you will find that yoga therapy for emotional well-being a profound tool for restoring balance.
Barbara teaches small therapeutic classes aimed at people suffering similar emotional challenges and is also available for one-to-one consultations.

Svastha Yoga Therapy Therapeutic Group Classes
These small group classes, conducted in six weekly cycles are directed to people facing similar health challenges.
Classes have a maximum of 6 attendees at any one time to ensure that each person is given individual attention and modifications to suit individual requirements and symptoms.
One of the main advantages of attending a class such as this, is that you are in the company of others facing similar challenges – this can provide both support and motivation. Each person attending will also be given a personalised program that they can continue at home outside of their weekly class.

Svastha Yoga Therapy One-to-One Consultations

Our yoga therapists are available to meet with you in a one-to-one consultation and develop a self care routine that can be practiced at your convenience at home.
Our first session will be centred around listenening to your concerns, gaining insight to your current abilities around movement and breath and identifying your goals. From this starting point we will design a suitable program for home use that will lead you in a progressive manner toward achieving these goals and that respects your unique requirements, lifestyle and schedule. You will be provided with an easy to follow step by step guide of your program and during the session you will be instructed in each aspect of the program so that you feel confident to practice at home.
A second consultation 3 - 5 days after your initial session is recommended to check that the program is fulfilling your needs and make adjustments as necessary. A third session will fine-tune the postures and breathing; where appropriate additional practices may be added to encourage progress. Dependant on your needs, further follow up sessions are available at your convenience.

Svastha Yoga Therapy for Structural Imbalance

Structural imbalances occur for a variety of reasons ranging from injury or stress, poor postural habits to having conditions such as congenital scoliosis. No matter the source, the discomfort associated with structural imbalance can severely impact on our overall sense of well being. Yoga therapy is a wonderful tool that offers many techniques to heal pain and discomfort in the body, and restore an overall sense of health and vitality.
When working with physical issues we mainly employ the use of asanas (postures) adapted to suit the individual and breathing techniques to help release physical tension as well as the mental tension that often arises through dealing with physical discomfort. We seek to improve posture, stabilise areas of stress, strengthen areas of weakness and increase mobility where there is loss of range of motion and stiffness.
